Dispatch Your Enemies With Haste

When people think of self-defense, the common belief is only to apply enough force to eliminate the threat, no more, no less, to keep yourself safe while minimizing the harm you do to your attacker.

This concept of “reasonable force” is especially emphasized in martial arts training, where practitioners learn self-defense techniques designed to neutralize an attacker while minimizing harm to both the defender and the attacker. By emphasizing the use of reasonable force, martial artists seek to balance the need to protect oneself with the obligation to respect the rights and dignity of others.

I believe that this philosophy is absolute garbage. When someone attacks you, you have an obligation to send a clear message not only to your attacker but to anyone watching that attacking you in the first place was the mistake of a lifetime. You can do this by replacing the idea of a measured response with a significantly disproportionate response. The goal isn’t just to protect yourself and your family but also to send a message to the attacker that the behavior they are engaged in is indeed very dangerous…for them.

This philosophy comes from the fact that many criminals are given extremely lenient sentences for heinous crimes. Here are some examples.

  1. In August 2021, a man in Illinois was sentenced to just three years in prison for brutally beating a 5-year-old boy to death. The man had been babysitting the child when the beating occurred.

  2. In 2020, a former Stanford University swimmer named Brock Turner was sentenced to just six months in jail for sexually assaulting an unconscious woman behind a dumpster. The lenient sentence sparked national outrage and led to calls for reform of the criminal justice system.

  3. In February 2021, a Michigan man who had been charged with domestic assault was released on a $10,000 bond despite having a history of violent behavior. The man later went on to kill his girlfriend and her father before taking his own life.

  4. In September 2020, a man in Wisconsin was sentenced to just five years in prison for killing a motorcyclist while driving under the influence of drugs. The man had a history of drunk driving and had been out on bail at the time of the crash.

  5. In November 2021, a former University of Michigan doctor was sentenced to just one year in prison for sexually assaulting patients. The doctor had been accused of molesting hundreds of young men over the course of several decades.

  6. In October 2021, a California man was sentenced to just six months in jail for the brutal beating of a 73-year-old man. The attack had been caught on video and had sparked widespread outrage.

  7. In July 2021, a former Pennsylvania college student was sentenced to just six months in jail for sexually assaulting a fellow student. The assault had occurred while the victim was unconscious.

  8. In May 2021, a California man was sentenced to just three years in prison for the fatal stabbing of a 19-year-old woman. The man had been charged with first-degree murder but had pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

  9. In April 2021, a Florida man was sentenced to just 30 days in jail for the sexual assault of a minor. The man had been in a position of authority over the victim at the time of the assault.

  10. In March 2021, a New York man was sentenced to just four years in prison for the fatal stabbing of his girlfriend. The man had a history of domestic violence and had previously been charged with assaulting the victim.

The above examples are a tiny sample, there are many more examples, but the point is that you can no longer count on the criminal justice system to carry out true justice. It’s become abundantly clear that it is up to us as citizens to protect ourselves in such a way that it changes the psyche of the attacker so much that they become deterred from attacking any individual for fear of how their potential victim may react. Criminals are not deterred by the legal system; they are deterred when they actually fear for their own safety. Only when self-preservation enteres into the equation will a criminal avoid committing a violent crime in the first place. The only way to make a criminal feel the need for self-preservation is to show them the inherent self-danger of their actions through excessive force. By doing this, they will undoubtedly think twice before attacking the following individual.

This philosophy isn’t just targeted at known violent criminals, it’s targeted at anyone who would try and harm you. Here is a perfect example of what I mean when I say “dispatch your enemies with haste.”

Was it really power hour if you didn’t get in a fight on the piss-soaked bathroom floor?

In the video, two Oklahoma football players tried to pick a fight with what they thought were easy targets, however, those “targets” turned out to be trained MMA fighters and justice was delivered swiftly and precisely to the would-be bullies. One of the football players in the video needed to have surgury to repair his orbital socket. That’s how you send a message.

Some might call this idea of disproportional response “street justice,” but I call it common sense.
